Photography Tips, Lessons and Discussions

photography tips and lessonsWelcome to the very first post of Populist Photography.  As a professional photographer that teaches classes on a regular basis to people with more camera than they know what to do with we thought we’d start this photography blog and see where it goes.

We’re hopeful this website will become more of a discussion than a monologue.   The discussions will be centered around beginning to serious amateurs.  We’ll go in to the beginning professional realm.

No photo snobs, please.  It’s been my experience since I sold my first photo in 1992 that some of the old guard photographers seem to think there is some mystical secret to photography that must be hidden from the masses.  But with the advent of more and more affordable photographic equipment photography has become a populist medium.

Yes, there will always be a need for the ultra-high quality photographers.  We’re not trying to circumvent or deride Master Photographers.  We are just trying to teach you how you can take fantabulous photographs and, after you get real consistent with that, you can begin to use your camera to make a little money.

Enjoy.

admin - Justin, stay tuned. In fact, I just shot some photos of my daughter playing basketball at JCCC the other day. Terrible lighting as is the usual for a basketball gym at the junior college level. So I’ll share ISO, shutter speed and other info.

Thanks for reading!
